The Factory Place web site is a WordPress site I customized from an existing theme. This is a site I took over from a previous developer and brought to completion, adhering to client specifications.

Theme Customization

Customized an existing WordPress theme (Salient) using the template hierarchy and a child theme. Worked with and extened the theme using the WordPress API to add additional features missing from the original.

User Interface

Multiple interface changes and features implemented. Includes:

  • Complex Map
    Map showing overview of the Factory Place campus, with linked mouseover areas. Designed to be responsive, works with all screen sizes.
  • Gallery
    Added speed optimizations and paging to the loading of content in gallery mosaic. Implemented a random display order that is refreshed, per-page load.
  • Arts District
    Updated Google map inteface to use a custom map markers, and changed interaction from click to mouseover for desktop browsers.
